Online Workshop – connect to center

Workshop:
connect to center

Saturday, May 18

3:30PM-5:00PM ET

In movement practices, terms like “core”, “stability” and “mobility” come up frequently, often associated with a desire to feel strong and centered in our bodies.

Many of us turn to physical practices to address our physical or emotional needs, hoping to find relief and rejuvenation. Yoga can indeed be used as a therapeutic tool; more often than not, a little breath and movement goes a long way. The poses stretch, strengthen, and balance us, cultivating a sense of ease and spaciousness within.

Beyond the physical benefits, yoga offers us an opportunity to pay closer attention to our own experience. It invites us to pause and inquire: What do I need in this moment?

In this workshop, we’ll explore the meanings of core, stability, and mobility. Through discussion and practice, we’ll deepen our understanding of these terms of how they apply to our individual experiences and needs.

This class is an introduction to themes I plan to explore more extensively in a 4-part series in the fall.

Slow Flow + Yin Yoga

Wednesdays @ 8:30am ET

February 9, 16, 23,
March 2, 9, 16

This 6-part winter series will be less about progressing toward peak poses and more about turning inwards. Each practice will consist of 30 minutes of slow flow followed by 15 minutes of yin postures and a final resting pose.

Yin yoga is a style of yoga that targets the connective tissue of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine through poses which are held for up to five minutes each. Unlike Restorative yoga where the body is being supported in positions of openness rather than stretch, the intention with a Yin practice is to move into the deeper layers of the connective tissue over a period of time and stillness. These postures can help to build capacity for being with strong sensations as they arise.

Recommended (not required) props: 2 blocks, a blanket, and a bolster.

A Zoom link will be sent out 24 hours prior to the first class.

Each class will be recorded, with access to the recordings for 30 days.
